A Slideshow of Favorite Memories
|
I had the tremendous fortune of being adopted by a Mother who had been a schoolteacher for over thirty years. She gave me a love for learning at a very young age and God gave me the gift of teaching. There are few places that I feel as powerful as I do in the classroom. Not because of anything special that I am imparting, but because the process of facilitating learning and showing people how to see both themselves, and their potential, differently is a powerful process. I have been blessed to teach across generational cohorts and even intergenerationally, which is my favorite! Watching the young learn from their elders and vice versa fills me with a unique joy that drives me to keep teaching.

TEACHING ARTIST
I have taught ELT classes in NYC High Schools since 2014. My favorite classes to teach are poetry and girl's empowerment.

TEACHING WORKSHOPS
I have taught poetry workshops both within and outside of the NYC public school system to writers of all ages.

MINISTRY TEACHING
I started teaching VBS 20 years ago, when I was still a teen. Sharing God's word in a culturally relevant way changes lives.

POETRY WORKSHOPS
One of my favorite things to do as an Educator is to facilitate workshops. I have several different subjects that I teach and a different curriculum for every subject. Within the poetry workshop curriculum, there is a class called "who am I?" that encourages participants to answer that question through verse. Quite often, they end up affirming themselves and their place in the world in that process. This young man did exactly that and blew us all away! |
